Ballina will next month welcome a fresh new festival, bringing together a selection of international artists and performers, as well as some of the much-loved local creatives from our own Northern Rivers.
The arty pop-up festival was born from the knowledge that too many art lovers living in Ballina, leave the town to get their cultural fix. The creatives behind this event decided that Ballina needs more art. The team have infiltrated more than twenty self-storage units and converted them into boutique gallery spaces for all to explore.
Opening night will see sound and performance from The Ironing Maidens which will be followed with some beautiful tunes by Tobin Saunders as you wander the cave-like alleyways searching for the unique and individual gallery pods at Spacemen Self Storage.
To name just a few of the exciting features: KnitPic will transform their space into a surreal knitted underwater world. Wade Marynowsky will show off one if his many robots accompanied by his unique visual works; Lauren Brincat and Lionel Bawden are making new and exciting pieces to include in their gallery pod, and Leigh Arnald will have you seeing stars with their space themed works.
Ballinalé will highlight Hi Fi and Low Fi works in this dynamic, varied show. There will be something for everyone. It is a family friendly event and all are welcomed.
When: Opening night Friday 25th November 6pm – 9pm running through to Sunday 27th. Open hours Saturday and Sunday 10am – 4pm.
Where: Spacemen Self Storage – 2 Ray O’Neill Crescent, Ballina
