Get a sneak peak at the 2018 Sydney Art Week

With one month to go .... here is a sneak-peek at the vibrant and jam-packed program for Opening Night, Thursday 13 September, 5pm-9pm, one of the most anticipated events on Sydney’s cultural calendar.

As well as visual artists, the Opening Night celebrates exciting musicians and performers too, transforming the Fair into an immersive, all-encompassing night of art and music! Performances are curated by Performance Spacewith drinks from Beluga and Handpicked, and an after party presented by Concrete Playground, you won't want to miss this night of nights!

Sydney Contemporary Opening Night is always a fun-filled highlight of the Fair featuring the biggest concentration of events, performances and entertainment. This year is no exception, with highlights including Emily Parsons-Lord's new pyrotechnic performance, Lauren Brincat's Brava, Bravi, Brave featuring a rhythmic duet between drummers and River Lin's Cleansing Service offering a resbite from the mayhem.

Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year 2018 dancers will collaborate with Paris-based Australian Visual Artist Mel O’Callaghan on a ritualistic public performance. The dancers will share space with members of the public as they go through a breathing ritual using potent Altered State of Consciousness technique characterised by a rapid and deep breathing protocol accompanies by a musical score that guides the performers.

Opening night music acts include Jaala (solo) who’s debut album ‘Hard Hold’ got AMP’s 'Album of the Year’ and Triple J’s Feature Album. Also performing is Mazy who draw on a wide array of influences and weave in and out of the delicately organic to the powerfully electronic.

The Fair will run from 13-16 September, with tickets on sale now. The full 2018 program is available here.
